Why we celebrate WINS

Motivation means desire.

The science of motivation is the science of success. That’s why I study motivation more than I study exercise technique. After more than 10 years as a coach, I know the selection of exercises is secondary to your desire to perform them.

Here’s what we know about motivation:

  1. Success has to happen before you’ll become motivated

  2. Success has to KEEP happening.

  3. We don’t always recognize success when it happens. We’re pretty hard on ourselves.

Good gyms provide access. Great gyms provide success.
Bursts of effort make you feel good for a moment. Long term habits get results for life.

This is why we have systems in place to celebrate, encourage and reward WINS.

That means we prioritise our attendance in the long term, we track our progress in Trainheroic, we give awards when individuals hit attendance milestones, and we celebrate the wins in the gym.

The practice of thankfulness doesn’t come naturally to anyone. That’s why we call it a practice: it’s hard, we don’t feel like doing it–and then we feel better once we have.

“Weekly Wins” is our practice of thankfulness.

Every week on our social media you’ll see we post wins of attendance, body composition changes & PR’s: things that went right, things we’re celebrating, and little ‘wins’ from the week.

We love grabbing out the whiteboard marker, writing individuals wins on the boards and giving them a free shirt. Taking a happy photo of someone who has put in the work is incredibly satisfying as a coach.

So this is a call out for anybody who is sometimes too shy to celebrate their hard-work and wins. You DESERVE to feel good for the work you’re doing, don’t be shy, what have been YOUR wins for the week?
